We welcome volunteers in many capacities on BRAKING AIDS® Ride.
The Crew are our volunteers who support the ride from beginning to end. Crew stay and eat with the riders the entire weekend. You’ll arrive at the starting location at midday on Thursday for your orientation and training, then welcome the Riders as they arrived.
Throughout the event, you’ll keep the Riders safe and happy as a member of your Crew team. You may be assigned to an Oasis (rest stop) team, or you may drive a Sweep vehicle, or perhaps you’ll help transport the Riders’ gear, or more. We also have specialty teams for medical positions, bike techs, and people who own a motorcycle. Regardless of your interests and abilities, there’s a Crew team for you. First, register as a Crew member; in mid-summer, we’ll ask you for your top assignment choices, and then we’ll place you on your team.
There’s a $95 registration fee for Crew (just like for the Riders). This helps to defray the cost of supporting you on the event. Although Crew are not required to fundraise, you’re certainly welcome to do so. Some of our Crew raise thousands of dollars each year!
Single-day volunteers are also welcome on any day of the Ride. The greatest volunteer need is on Sunday, September 10th for the closing ceremony.
Come out and cheer on the Riders! Shortly before the ride, we will post a list of designated cheering stations on our website. Due to cost and space considerations, we regret that we cannot offer meals or hotel rooms to cheerleaders and single day volunteers, but we will be happy to provide information to keep you close to your loved ones. Ask about single day volunteers.
