What is the virtual ride?

Join us for our radically inclusive virtual ride: You can ride a bike, “ride” a yoga mat, “ride” a pair of running shoes–the choice is yours. What’s your ride?

What do you need to do?

Being a part of it is easy. Simply register as a Virtual Rider. There’s no registration fee to sign up. You get to choose the physical component that’s right for you, but we suggest that you choose a physical challenge that meets the magnitude of our goal to end AIDS! Already a cyclist? Can you train up to 175 miles over 2 days, just like our in-person ride? Or is 50 miles more your speed? Whatever you do, make it part of your fundraising appeal so your friends and family know how committed you are to Housing Works’ mission. Sign up for our Strava club and be sure to record your training sessions and Ride weekend ride there. On Strava, you can track your friends’ training rides and posted photos and offer encouragement, and get kudos from them to inspire your training, too! Not a rider? No problem! Run, walk, bake, read, kayak, do yoga, paint – the ways to get involved are virtually limitless. Maybe even form a team (details below) and make your challenge a weekend-long relay with your friends! Find something that inspires you and our Virtual Ride Coach will help you find a way to make it inspire others!

Then get ready for the Ride! Join us throughout the year for pre-ride activities, presented live on Zoom. Qualify for special perqs just for our virtual and in-person riders, like wine tastings, training clinics, and much more!

Be sure to follow us on social media throughout the weekend for live updates! You can find us on Instagram @brakingaids and on X @brakingaidsride. How do you qualify for all of this fun? It’s really simple! All you have to do is raise $1,000 or more by September 15, 2026 and you’ll earn the passkey into all of our virtual activities! In addition, we’ll mail you a “Virtual Oasis-In-A-Box”—an oasis theme box packed with goodies that will bring the Ride to your doorstep in time for your Ride weekend challenge! While we can’t promise that a drag queen will pop out of your mailbox, our Virtual Oasis-In-A-Box is the next best thing!
